To celebrate one (wild) year since the release of YACHT’s “(Downtown) Dancing,” we’re releasing a special remix package, including a re-imagined version of “(Downtown) Dancing” co-written by YACHT and Pacific Northwest DIY legend Calvin Johnson, aka Selector Dub Narcotic, which proves beyond a doubt that a free human mind can still produce lyrics infinitely weirder than anything generated by machine (have fun singing along to “toad lickin’, beep-beepin’”) alongside a special long-burning remix from fellow Los Angelenos Peaking Lights.

Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell
