In 2004 Scout Niblett released a cover of Althea & Donna's dancehall classic "Uptown Top Ranking," a truly perfect song by two Jamaican teens from 1977. Scout's single was recorded by Steve Albini and included two other songs, one of which was the radically sparse "Dare!"

In 2003, our bandmate Rob's solo act, Bobby Birdman, opened up for Scout (her given name is Emma) at the tiny b-venue attached to the Showbox Theater in Seattle. Jona played drums for Rob that night and Emma ruled. We've been fanatics ever since. Jona used to cover "It's All For You" on tour at very early YACHT shows.

In 2006 we moved down the street in North Portland to an apartment directly across from a coffee shop (shoutout to the Fresh Pot) that was a meeting point for artists and weirds in the neighborhood. We'd see Emma at the coffee shop all the time and became friends-ish. This forced collaboration is a long time coming.
